We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. Last year's winter had days of extremely cold temperatures. The lowest recorded temperature in Missouri was -2. However, this year the Old Farmer's Almanac predicts warmer temperatures.
However, that doesn't mean you should put away your snow shovels. While we likely won't have single digit days, there will still be some snowy weather this winter.
This year's winter weather patterns are being influenced by El Niño. Most of the country will see warmer weather this winter, but the southwest will finally see cooler temperatures.
Although there may not be leaves on the trees, it will still be a great time to head outdoors and enjoy the warm weather. Take advantage of the mild winter and walk the trails in some of Missouri's best parks.
Best of all, there is a good chance that this year could bring a white Christmas! Keep your fingers crossed for at least one snow day, but relish in the idea of warmer temperatures overall this winter in Missouri.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac claims an 80% success rate with these forecasts, so we’ll see whether they’re right or if we fall in the 20% and end up with frigid winter days. What do you think about these predictions? Would you prefer a forecast without snow or do you love a white winter? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
