The 11 Best Decisions You Can Make In Missouri
We can probably agree that we
all made one of the best decisions of our lives when we decided to move to or remain in Missouri. However, that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. For the real Missouri experience, there are quite a few decisions that will make our lives here even more enjoyable. Here are 11 of the best decisions you can make in Missouri.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:
1. Choose a side – Cardinals or Royals?
Missourians are loyal, whether it comes to our favorite restaurants or our favorite sports teams. That said, which is
your team – the Cardinals or the Royals?
2. Keep shorts in your closet all year around.
Once the temperature hits a balmy 50 degrees, the long pants go right back into the closet. It’s shorts time now. With the weather sometimes unpredictable, we never know when we’ll need our shorts (and flip flops).
3. Go to the first drive-thru restaurant in Missouri.
We all crave nostalgia every now and then, and there’s no better place for a stroll down Memory Lane than at Springfield’s Red’s Giant Hamburg. The old-school eatery has earned distinction as the world’s first drive-thru restaurant.
4. Include barbecue in your meal plan at least once a week.
Truth be told, most of us probably eat barbecue more than once a week. After all, we live in a state that has some of the best.
5. Make floating a priority in the summer.
Summertime’s all about relaxation. Even if you’ve got a hectic schedule, you won’t find a better way to relax and to unwind than on a leisurely float down one of Missouri’s popular rivers – the Black River or the Current River, for example.
6. Never say no to an adventure.
Missouri’s a goldmine when it comes to adventure – whether you want to go ziplining or feel like spending a day exploring on an ATV. What have you got to lose if you try every adventure at least once?
7. Start your meals with toasted ravioli.
Three cheers to St. Louis for its delightfully delicious invention of toasted ravioli. It’s the perfect way to start any and every meal.
8. Invest in a good pair of hiking boots.
Exploring Missouri is easy, especially if you’re up for slipping on your hiking boots and trekking along one of the state’s hundreds of trails. Trails range from easy to difficult, and most boast beautiful scenery. Our biggest challenge is deciding where to start.
9. Watch a movie under the stars at the drive-in.
Can you think of a better way to spend a summer evening than under the stars, with a whole menu of goodies, as you watch a double feature? It’s the blast from the past we all need every now and then.
10. Drink in the spellbinding views from atop the Gateway Arch.
It’s just something every Missourian does at least once. Travel to the top of the Gateway Arch for beautiful views of the St. Louis landscape. If you’re looking for another way to admire the city views, now you can also go on the St. Louis Wheel.
11. Design your bucket list.
If we never journeyed beyond Missouri’s borders again, we’d still have a lifetime of adventures to set off on. What do you most want to explore or to do in Missouri? A bucket list will help you make those dreams come true.
