Serious Bread is nestled on Main Street in downtown Bay St. Louis. Because of its location behind another shop (Bay Books), it can be easy to miss but this is one place you don’t want to pass up.
The shop is the brain child of Al Jensen, an oceanographer-turned-baker with a penchant for incredible bread. After studying with a world renowned baker in Vermont, Jensen decided to put his baking skills to work and opened Serious Bread.
It also has something to do with the technique used to make the bread. At Serious Bread, grains are soaked for up to 10 hours, which makes minerals and nutrients more available. The end result is healthy, easily digestible, and delicious loaves.
With such a variety, there's something for everyone's tastes. Aside from loaf bread in an array of flavors, the bakery makes flat bread, which is perfect for pizzas.
