One Of The Nation's Few Meaderies Is Right Here In Mississippi

You’ve heard of wineries and breweries, but have you ever heard of a meadery? If not, it’s not surprising since there are less than 500 meaderies nationwide. What is surprising, though, it that one of those meaderies is right here in Mississippi. Take a look:

This is Queen’s Reward Meadery. It opened in Tupelo in 2016.

The small-batch meadery produces a wide variety of meads, making it the perfect place to try the tasty beverage.

So, what exactly is mead? Dubbed the “nectar of the gods,” it’s a fermented beverage that’s made from honey, water, and yeast.

And while the drink may seem like a new thing, it’s actually the oldest alcoholic beverage – even older than beer and traditional grape wine.

Mead tastes very similar to grape wine; however, it has a slight honey taste. But don’t get the wrong idea; it’s not syrupy like honey.

Just like traditional wine, mead comes in a variety of flavors. At Queen’s Reward Meadery, the selection includes everything from traditional dry and sweet to fruit-flavored meads.

Even better, all the meads are made using locally sourced honey.

At Queen’s Reward Meadery, you can buy mead by the glass or by the bottle. Purchase a bottle to take home…

…or enjoy a few glasses in the comfy seating area.

Queen's Reward Meadery isn't an eatery; however, there are food trucks on-site.

The food trucks aren't the only options for food, though. Customers can have food delivered to the meadery via Tupelo 2 Go.
