The Magnificent Morgan Hill Prairie Trail In Mississippi Will Lead You To A Hidden Overlook

There’s no better way to end a great hike than with a great view – and the Morgan Hill Prairie Trail is proof! It’s just 0.5 miles long. But, just because it’s lacking in miles, doesn’t mean it’s lacking in perks. In fact, the trek is full of them – the best of which is an overlook at the trail’s finish.

Located in the Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge, the Morgan Hill Prairie Trail is a short but sweet trek that comes to an end at an overlook.

One of the state’s best natural gems, the refuge spans 48,000 acres in three counties (Noxubee, Oktibbeha, and Winston).

There are several trails in the refuge. Bluff Lake Boardwalk and Beaver Dam Trail are some of the most popular treks.

However, the Morgan Hill Prairie Trail is just as – if not more – worthy of a visit.

Brimming with beauty, the 0.5-mile trail winds through a picturesque prairie. Wildlife and wildflowers are common sights along the way.

Though the entire hike is filled with lovely sights, there’s no denying the best views are found at the Morgan Hill Overlook, which sits at the end of the trek.

From the overlook, you’ll be afforded a panoramic vista of Loakfoma Lake.

And just to make sure visitors don’t miss a thing, the overlook is equipped with a binocular telescope.

The entire trail, including the ramp to the overlook, is wheelchair accessible, which means everyone can enjoy the Morgan Hill Overlook.
