The One Place In Mississippi That Offers The Ultimate Outdoor Adventure
When was the last time you had a great adventure outdoors? Here’s a spot in Moss Point that offers some incredible scenery, and an epic adventure you won’t forget.
The Pascagoula River Audubon Center is located 5107 Arthur Street in Moss Point. It opened in 2015, and has been providing guests with information, entertainment, cultural arts and adventure ever since.
The center is located right on the Pascagoula River, where you'll find a marsh full of birds and animals, and some spectacular scenery.
Take a short hike to explore the grounds; there are 10 wooded acres here.
There's even an adorable play garden for the little ones.
Stroll down to the observation deck that overlooks Rhodes Bayou, and bring your camera to capture the stunning views and wildlife.
Rent a kayak so you can get right down on the water to explore.
You can even rent a kayak for two!
If you'd rather sit back and let someone else do the steering, take a guided cruise.
McCoy's River and Marsh Tours offers tours on Tuesday and Thursday at 10 AM and 2 PM, and on Saturday at 10 AM. Call (228)-219-4583 to reserve your space in advance.
Join the folks at the center for the Warbler Walk on Wednesdays from 8 AM to 9 AM. Volunteers will help you locate birds in the area and will have binoculars at the ready so you won't miss a thing.
You'll find many species of birds here on the river, from herons to hummingbirds to cardinals.
The 5,000-square foot interpretive center has aquariums, displays, and plenty of information about the habitat along the river. You'll also find an art gallery inside, with work from local artists.
Before you leave, check out the Hidden Heron gift shop. It's full of wonderful items that would make great presents for family and friends
It's open Tuesday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM; Saturday 9 AM to 3 PM; closed on Sunday and Monday.
