When it comes to strange attractions, Mississippi has many of them. Perhaps one of the strangest of all is the Moonshine Submarine, located in Grand Gulf Military State Park in Port Gibson. Said to “evade detection of illegal booze,” it’s one of many sights to see while visiting the area. There is also a museum and historic cemetery present in the State Park. Campers and picnickers are welcome.

You'll know you arrived at the right place when you see this sign present. It tells you where to go to get into the State Park. It won't be long before you see the Moonshine Submarine. It's something that people continue to want to visit yearly after discovering its existence.

Powered by a Model T Ford engine, the one-man submarine has survived to tell some tales. During the Prohibition era, the machine's mission was to run bootleg liquor from Davis Island to Vicksburg. It shows a lot of wear but continues to draw a crowd to it yearly by being one of the strangest sights to see in the state.

The Old Grand Gulf Cemetery has a lot of history that it covers, too. There are many places to sit and reflect upon all that happened in the area. It's present where the Union shelled Confederate forts. You can easily spend an afternoon looking at the graves that are present in the cemetery.
