There are a lot of great things about Mississippi and one of those things is definitely the state’s food. With a local cuisine that is both hearty and satisfying, Mississippians have definitely earned bragging rights! From delicious local seafood to concoctions you’ll only find in the state, trying Mississippi cuisine is a must.
This sinfully delicious pie is comprised of chocolate filling and a crust made of crushed cookies or graham crackers. It is named after the great state because, as you probably already guessed, it originated here.
Since no meal is complete without bread, Mississippians can’t get enough of this stuff! The variations of this recipe are infinite; however, one thing remains constant – it’s a southern favorite.

Seasoned with pork and usually cooked for quite some time, collard greens are a must when you’re a Mississippian. And they are almost always accompanied by homemade corn bread.
