This Unique Mississippi Attraction Will Take You Back In Time
History comes to life at the unique Laurel attraction Landrum’s Homestead and Village. A replica of a standard 1800s settlement, the historically accurate village is made up of over 70 buildings and includes everything from a general store and schoolhouse to a trading post and shooting gallery.
Believing it was important for his grandchildren to see how their ancestors lived, Thomas Landrum and his sons set out to build a replica of a late-1800s settlement. When all was said and done, the village encompassed 10 acres (a number which has since doubled).
Curious neighbors and residents began to inquire about the village of yesteryear and soon began to bring their families to see it. Eventually, Thomas Landrum opened the attraction to the public.
Aside from touring the historic buildings, there are several activities to keep the little ones entertained, including wagon rides, trails, a shooting gallery, and even a gem mine.
Check out the video below for a closer look at Landrum’s.
Ready to take a “walking tour of the past?” The historic village can be toured Monday – Friday from 9 am – 5 pm. Admission is $8 per person; children three and under are free. Landrum’s is located at 1356 Highway 15 South in Laurel. For more information, click here.
