The Monmouth Historic Inn In Mississippi Is Notoriously Haunted And We Dare You To Spend The Night
There are several historic hotels in Mississippi that are believed to be haunted. One of the most notorious, though, is Monmouth Historic Inn. The residence-turned-inn boasts great accommodations, a beautiful garden, and a resident ghost, who has been known to check on guests in their rooms! It’s no wonder the historic inn has topped numerous “most haunted” lists!

A National Historic Landmark, it was built in 1818.

Quitman not only lived in Monmouth. He died in Monmouth, too. There’s some dispute as to the cause of death. Some say he was poisoned and killed by abolitionists, while other reports list the cause of death as National Hotel Disease.

Over the years, a phantom man in a military uniform has been seen roaming the halls of Monmouth. Many believe it’s the ghost of the general.

What a wake-up call!

Who can blame him?! The gardens are stunning!

Just prior to the recognition by Country Living, the website Love Exploring named Monmouth the most haunted hotel in Mississippi.

Guests are treated to true hospitality, top-notch cuisine, and tours of the house and gardens.
