Most People Have No Idea Mississippi Has A Lost State Park…And It’s Stunning
When it comes to state parks, Mississippi is definitely not lacking. The state is home to nearly two dozen parks, many of which are nationally-ranked. However, there’s one park that may soon be forgotten all together, which would be a real shame because it’s both unique and stunning.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. This national scenic byway, which follows the course of the Mississippi River, extends 3,000 miles through 10 states. The portion that runs through Mississippi spans over 200 miles and is basically a diary of American history, telling the story of antebellum America, the Civil War and the long lasting effects of the war.

Since closing, the park has re-opened on a limited basis.

And just to be sure visitors get a good look at the Mississippi River, the park has a 75’ observation tower, offering panoramic views of the Mississippi River.




A popular fishing spot, the lake is known for its impressive yield of bass, white perch and catfish.
