The Charming Mississippi General Store That’s Been Open Since The 1800s
General stores are far and few between. General stores that have been in business since the 1800s are even rarer. But they do exist – and you’ll find one hiding in small-town Mississippi. The historic shop first opened its doors back in 1892. Stop by today, and you can stock up on general store goods and even grab a great meal. Take a look:
This is H.D. Gibbes & Sons. It’s tucked away in the tiny town of Learned, which is about 30 miles southeast of Vicksburg.
Of course, the merchandise has been updated to include modern-day goods, such as paper towels, snacks, and more. Antiques are also part of the store’s present-day merchandise.
