This Small Town In Mississippi Is A Hidden Gem For Food Lovers
Small towns in Mississippi are synonymous with great restaurants. However, there’s one small town that seems to stand out above the rest when it comes to impressive eateries…
Earlier this month, the website Reward Expert included Ocean Springs in a list of the
nation’s best cities for foodies.
In order to compile the list, which was officially named "2017 Best American Foodie Towns," the website analyzed more than 100 cities with populations under 100,000.
Ocean Springs landed the number two spot in the South Central region, coming in second only to Tuscaloosa, AL - a college town with over 400 restaurants!
The coastal town received a stellar review from Reward Expert, which began, "One thing is clear, Ocean Springs has really, really good food and the restaurants have won numerous culinary awards."
Several restaurants, including The Shed, were specifically mentioned in the review. A favorite among locals and tourists alike, the popular BBQ joint has won over 20 awards for its barbecue sauce alone!
And that’s in addition to the variety of other accolades the eatery has been awarded over the years.
Roadside is another Ocean Springs eatery specifically named. Aside from its
signature appetizer, Cheese Bombs, Woody's serves up one-of-a-kind
burgers and tacos.
Aunt Jenny's was the third and final restaurant mentioned. In addition to beautiful views because of its location on the bayou, the restaurant offers a tasty fare.
More specifically, it’s known for its mouthwatering catfish, which Good Morning America included in its "Best Bite in America Challenge."
Though this rating is one of the newest for Ocean Springs, it’s not the first time the town has been recognized.
Home to some great galleries, the charming coastal town has long had a reputation as an arts community. More recently, it was named one of the "10 Happiest Seaside Towns" by Coastal Living.
With great food, art, and beautiful white beaches, Ocean Springs is the perfect place for an in-state adventure!
