The old adage, “good things come in small packages,” definitely applies to Doris’ Hot Tamales. A Gulf Coast gem, the tiny eatery has been serving up some of the state’s best tamales for decades. Take a look:
In business since the 1970s, Doris’ Hot Tamales is a D’Iberville institution.
Running the eatery is a family affair. It was founded by Doris Deno years ago. After her passing, her son took over the stand and still uses her original recipe, so the hot tamales taste as delicious today as they did when Doris’ first opened.
Plus, it’s painted bright blue, so it stands out despite its small size. Aside from the color, you’ll notice a red flashing light on the roof, which lets you know Doris’ is open for business.
Made fresh daily, the authentic hot tamales are available on a first come, first serve basis. There's no indoor seating, so you can take them to go or dine at the outdoor picnic table.
Fresh and hot with just the right amount of spice, Doris’ hot tamales consistently receive rave reviews and are often times referred to as “the best in the state.”
