There are a ton of stereotypes out there about Mississippi. Most of them are just plain ridiculous. However, there are a few that couldn’t be more true; here are 11 of them.

1. We do, in fact, LOVE football.

The rivalry between the Bulldogs and Rebels is actually one of the longest-running football feuds in the nation’s history. So yeah, it’s safe to say football is a big deal here.
2. We take religion seriously.

Drive around Mississippi and you’ll find a Baptist church on every corner. Okay, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration but there are a lot. And that’s because 36 percent of residents are Baptist — a huge number when compared with the 9 percent in the US. In fact, Mississippi has even been listed as the most religious state in the country.
3. Most of us do hunt.

Hunting season is as big of a deal as football season in Mississippi — and that’s saying a lot. Heck, we like it so much, that many of us wear camouflage even when we’re not hunting.
4. Maybe we do have accents.

5. Many of us did actually grow up "in the middle of nowhere" near a farm…

7. We can sometimes be overly polite.

8. The "everybody’s related to everybody" thing is kinda true.

9. We don’t take cold weather very well.

Hey, it’s not our fault. The temperatures are sweltering most of the year, so anything below 65 degrees may as well be freezing.
10. We don’t take the humidity very well either.
