What are some of the best day trips in Minnesota to do with kids?

There are plenty of wonderful things you can do with the entire family in the beautiful state of Minnesota! There are too many to list in one short paragraph, but some of our top favorites include trips to places like Taylors Falls, where you’ll be enchanted by scenic views of the St. Croix River, unique geology, and interesting natural history. If you prefer to head north, we recommend a visit to beautiful Duluth, where you can take the kids to see an awesome lighthouse, a wonderful aquarium, beautiful parks, and more. You could also take the little ones on interesting adventures like geocaching, which is a popular hobby in Minnesota and appropriate for all ages.

Where are some must-visit places in Minnesota?

The #1 attraction in Minnesota just so happens to be one of the top attractions in the United States: The Mall of America is in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It features more than 400 shops and stores and holds awesome events year-round. If you’re not up for walking around indoors, that’s fine – there's plenty to enjoy outdoors, too! Take the North Shore Scenic Drive for a wonderful sight-seeing adventure, or visit the beautiful Superior National Forest and Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness – which is as peaceful as the name is long. Itasca State Park is another must-see, and first-time visitors to Minnesota can’t go without checking out the awe-inspiring Cathedral of Saint Paul. Take a look at this article for some absolutely stunning photos showing Minnesota at its best!

What are some interesting, unique attractions in Minnesota to add to my bucket list?

Minnesota is home to plenty of offbeat and unusual attractions, just in case the usual touristy stuff just isn’t your thing. Some of our favorite odd things to do and see in Minnesota include the Lost 40, which is an incredible old-growth forest in the northern part of the state that has been entirely untouched by logging and deforesting. You should also make it a point to see the Devil’s Kettle, a bizarre geological wonder in which a breathtaking waterfall falls into a pond that goes... somewhere. We’re still working on figuring that one out. You can also visit one of the most remote parts of the country by traveling up to Northwest Angle.
