There is no shortage of incredible places to eat in Minnesota. At just about any time of day, you can find a nice spot to grab a bite to eat. That goes double for restaurants that are open late or never close. But there is something nice about a place that only opens once in a while. It gives you a chance to look forward to those rare times when it is possible to visit. This fact certainly rings true for the Russian Tea House. This Minnesota restaurant is rarely open, but when it does – you don’t want to eat anywhere else.

The Russian Tea House has long stood in this house along St. Paul's University Avenue. If you aren't looking for it, you might miss it.

But don't let your meal end there. One of the other crowd favorites is by far the beef stroganoff. Served up on a paper plate with plastic utensils, it's anything but fancy. And that's part of what makes this place so good.

Other great options are the borscht, vereniki, homemade chocolate truffles, and Russian tea cakes. The prices are so affordable that, if you go with a friend, you can order one of everything and split it all.

While the Russian Tea House serves amazing food, it's not open very often. You'll have to stop in for lunch on a Friday afternoon between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Visit at 1758 University Avenue West in St. Paul.
