17 Questions You Can Only Answer If You’re From Minnesota
Minnesotans have unique wisdom and answers to quirky questions about their state.
We already talked about the questions that everyone asks Minnesotans, but what about the questions they COULD ask? Minnesotans have a lot of wisdom, and are usually up to offering it in response to these inquiries. After all, they're the only ones who truly know the answers.
1. Can a 3-year-old be an elected official?

Yes, this happened in Dorset, MN. He was also reelected at 4.
2. How cold is too cold?
Probably what we experience from December through February.
3. Why can’t we live without 3M?
Scotch tape, waterproof sandpaper, and so many other things.
4. Where are all the golfers?
Minnesota! Most per capita in the US.
5. Who won the first intercollegiate basketball game?
The University of Minnesota beat Hamline 9-3 in 1895.
6. How many lakes are actually in Minnesota?
The most recent number posted on the MNHS website is 15,291 that are larger than 10 acres.
7. Where is Lake Wobegon?
Trick question. Out of those 15,291 lakes none are Lake Wobegon. It isn't real.
8. How can you use butter besides cooking?
To make awesome sculptures.
9. Which state has more shoreline, California, or Minnesota?
Minnesota has more shoreline than California, Florida, and Hawaii combined. Over 90,000 miles thanks to all those lakes.
10. Where does the Mississippi River begin?
Itasca State Park in MN is home to the Mississippi Headwaters.
11. Where was the computer game Oregon Trail created?
Minnesota. You're welcome elementary schools everywhere.
12. Where is the best place to canoe in the United States?
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area, obviously!
13. Is there such a thing as too much shopping?
Yes. We've all been there.
14. What happens when you mix tater tots, cream of mushroom, ground beef, and vegetables?
A level of deliciousness that can only be found in MN.
15. How do you pronounce Wayzata? Or Shakopee or Mahtomedi?
Why-zeta. But we'll let you non-Minnesotans figure out the rest on your own because it's fun to laugh at you.
16. How do you avoid mosquitos?
Stay out of Minnesota in the summer.
17. Are Minnesotans really nice?
Okay so we're the only ones who can really answer this, but please don't ask. It's very annoying and a bit (or a lot) passive-aggressive.
