Minnesota’s Most Overlooked State Park Is Seriously Beautiful
Minnesota’s 67 state parks receive a lot of visitors each year. In fact, according to the DNR, the parks received nearly 8 million visitors in 2012. That’s a lot for a state with a population south of 6 million. But some of our beautiful state parks get overlooked. One of the most criminally overlooked? Bear Head Lake State Park.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
Bear Head Lake State Park is located near Ely in northern Minnesota. But because of its location, it is often overshadowed by the nearby Boundary Waters.
Several other lakes are accessible in the park as well. Cub Lake is quite secluded, but if you make the trek, you'll be rewarded with peace and quiet - and fantastic fishing.
