Minnesota isn’t exactly known for its altitude. We’re far from the Rockies, and even further from Appalachia. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a few mountains of our own. They don’t quite measure up to the world’s tallest peaks, but they are absolutely beautiful – and easier to climb! There’s a little-known mountain in Minnesota that proves the Land of 10,000 Lakes isn’t as flat as it seems. Not only is it beautiful, but it’s easily climbed. Here’s what you need to know:

Mount Trudee is a beautiful mountain in northern Minnesota. You can easily access the mountain from Tettegouche State Park. Address: 5702 MN-61, Silver Bay, MN 55614.

For a mountain, Trudee is quite low. But by Minnesota standards, it soars. The elevation is 1,581 feet above sea level. Its peak is 340 feet above the ground surrounding it. The mountain, with its rugged rocky surface, is beautiful from a distance. But it is stunning up close!

Hikers can access the peak from the Superior Hiking Trail. Turn left at Highway 1 off Highway 61, and continue to the Superior Hiking Trail trailhead.

After you park, head down the path! It is surrounded by gorgeous, thick northern forest. As you climb, you will soon be above the trees.
