Here Are The 10 Most Religious Counties In Minnesota

Last year, we showed you some of the prettiest churches in Minnesota. Our state, along with being known for its stunning number of lakes, is known for its number of churches. So with a little help from Sperling’s Best Places, we found the counties in Minnesota that are the most religious, that is, the most residents identifying as practitioners of a religion. In the US as a whole, 48.78% of people are religious. Keeping that in mind, here are the top 10 by percentage:
In Rock County, 85.93% percent of residents are religious, and 26.55% of those residents are Presbyterian, a huge difference from 1.63% in the US as a whole.
88.53% of Traverse County residents are religious. 26.76% of those residents are Catholic, 7.62% are Episcopalian, 44.72% are Lutheran, 5.17% are Methodist, and 4.27% are Presbyterian.

In Brown County, 89.41% of residents are religious, and 41.63% of those residents are Catholic, compared to 19.43% in the US as a whole.
Although Pipestone County hits near the middle of the list with 89.88% of residents practicing religion, it is unique in that it is the only county in the top 10 where Lutherans do not account for the largest percent of the religious population. In Pipestone County, the Presbyterian population is 31.87% of the religious population, with the Lutheran population coming in at 26.57%.
Kittson County has a population in which 90.97% of residents practice religion. 58.22% of those residents are Lutheran, while the other residents are Catholic, Baptist, Episcopalian, Pentecostal, Methodist, and Presbyterian.
In Grant County 91.51% of residents are religious. As is standard with many on the list, the large majority are Lutheran (66.65%).
Yellow Medicine County is 93.19% religious. 62.45% are Lutheran, 21.79% Catholic, 3.24% Presbyterian, and 1.61% Methodist with the rest reporting to be Other Christian.

Fillmore County's residents are 95.44% religious. It is the only county on this list with an LDS population, accounting for a mere 0.36% (compared to 2.03% in the entire US).
In Red Lake County, 95.55% of residents are religious, 44.02% of which are Catholic, compared to 19.43% of the US population as a whole.
95.77% of residents in Lac qui Parle county consider themselves affiliated with a religion. They are 14.41% Catholic, 1.24% Baptist, 2.49% Methodist, 2.33% Presbyterian, and unsurprisingly 75.30% Lutheran (compared to 2.33% in the entire US).
