Somebody Made A Forest Shaped Exactly Like Minnesota And It Is Absolutely Incredible
Did you know there’s a forest in Minnesota that is shaped just like our state? It’s true! A few years ago, someone discovered the forest while tinkering with Google Earth. As people became interested in the trees and their mysterious origin, more details came to light. Here’s what we know today:
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you've got eagle eyes, you probably noticed a small patch of green in the center-left of the photo. At first glance, it looks like just another stand of trees. But look closer...

Turns out, this patch of state-shaped woods has been around for at least 25 years. According to City Pages, it was created by a DNR forester with just a compass and a map. The shape was created by cutting away a section of trees shaped like Minnesota. Over time, the trees grew back into the shape of our state.

The forest is close to the Canadian border near Faunce Forest Road SW in Williams, Minnesota. Check it out on Google Earth here.
Pretty cool, right? Perhaps there are more cool forests out there waiting to be discovered… time to get Google Earth-ing!
