11 Things All Minneapolitans Have In The Trunk Of Their Car At All Times
In a state like Minnesota, you have to be prepared for just about anything. Our weather changes minute to minute, and with that, our plans can change as well. Minneapolitans have that unpredictability down to a science. Look in the car of any person who lives in Minneapolis, and you’ll likely find these 11 items that make it much easier to plan a great Minneapolis day. Take a look:
1. An ice scraper.
You can't live in Minnesota without having an ice scraper. That means greater need for a scraper. After all, waiting for the defrosters to kick in may not be fast enough.
2. Or better yet, a broom.
Anyone who lives in a snowy place knows how much easier it can be to clear off your car with a broom than with a flimsy ice scraper. Keeping this tool in your car helps you get on the road that much faster.
Quarters for parking meters. You never know when you'll need to park on a busy street.
4. A blanket.
Keeping a blanket in your car has a twofold use. First, you can use it to keep warm when the temperature drops. Second, you can use it as a picnic blanket when you spend a sunny afternoon at one of the city's many parks.
5. Jumper cables.
Just like all Minnesotans, Minneapolitans carry jumper cables in their cars. For one thing, you never know when your car won't start. And for another, you never know when you can use them to help somebody else. Minnesota Nice extends to the Twin Cities.
6. A pile of books.
Why? Because Minneapolis is the third most literate city in the nation. Surely most Minneapolitans have a book or two floating around in the trunk of their car.
7. Workout gear.
Did you know Minneapolis was once named the fittest city in the United States in 2017? With tons of parks, walking trails, and other outdoor activities, being active is a part of life here. For that reason, you're more likely to find workout gear - yoga mats, workout clothes, and more - in a Minneapolitans car.
8. Bug spray.
Being the City of Lakes, you can't expect there to be no mosquitos. A can of bug spray in your trunk, and you're prepared for just about anything.
9. Mittens or gloves.
Or more accurately, a single mitten or glove left over from last winter. Where did the other one disappear to? We can't say for sure, but it probably ended up in a snowbank somewhere. Still, better hold on to it. You never know when you'll need to keep your hands warm.
Like bug spray, sunscreen is a requirement if you're going to spend a day outdoors. And if you're a Minneapolitan, where else would you be on a sunny summer day?
11. Comfortable walking shoes.
According to WalkScore, Minneapolis is the 9th most walkable city in the United States. To get the full experience, Minneapolitans park their cars and lace up their walking shoes. Then, they enjoy the great neighborhoods, parks, and trails that make the city great.
