Food trucks are awesome. What could be better than delicious meals on wheels? The Food truck trend has swept the nation, and Minneapolis has some of the best! Here are 14 tasty trucks that you definitely need to chase down!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:
1. Hot Indian Foods Truck
Holy moley, this downtown food truck is delicious! It's hard to find a dish on this menu that is anything less than fantastic. Everything is fresh, hot, and tasty. The only downside? This truck, which is parked near the skyway, is incredibly popular and can get busy during the lunch rush... but if you have a few extra minutes to spare, the wait is totally worth it. Try the Indurritos (Indian burritos)!
The Hot Indian Foods Truck in the downtown area is currently holding out for warmer weather, but check out their website for their 2017 schedule (and locations!). If you just can't wait for this delicious treat, Hot Indian Foods also has a spot at the Midtown Global Market that is open seven days a week.
2. The World Street Kitchen Food Truck
If you are looking for something delicious and unique, look no further than World Street Kitchen's Food Truck. They serve "global street food" that will transport you around the world with each tasty bite! The WSK Food Truck travels around the downtown area, but you can check their day-to-day locations on the WSK Twitter page.
World Street Kitchen also has a brick-and-mortar location at 2743 Lyndale Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN.
3. The Anchor Fish & Chips Food Truck
It's hard to find better fish and chips outside of Britain! Anchor certainly got their batter just right... it's crispy, thin, and surprisingly light - which is a rare find when you are looking for a deep-fried treat. The portions are large and the prices are cheap, so this is a great place to fill up on a budget. They also serve tasty meat pasties and shepherd's pie if you aren't in the mood for seafood.
Anchor Fish & Chips is a popular spot and it's a small truck, so plan to spend a few extra minutes in line. Everything is fried fresh, so it's worth the wait, but if you want to make it a quick stop, try to plan your visit for in off-hours time.
The Food Truck roams around the Twin Cities (and makes appearances at the Food Truck Festival in Uptown), but there is also a permanent location at 302 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN.
4. Get Sauced
Get Sauced's pulled pork seriously can't be beat. The tacos and rice bowls are amazing and their portions are HUGE and the items on their menu at all under $10, so this is a great deal for what you get. There's definitely a global feel here - the BBQ pork celebrates the South, and they serve both Mexican- and Asian-style bowls that fuse all of the best flavors into one tasty plate. This is the kind of meal that you need to take a nap after.
The Get Sauced Truck makes its way around town and you can stay up-to-date on their location through their Facebook and Twitter pages, but you will DEFINITELY see these guys at major events around town, at festivals, and around the downtown breweries (especially when the Twins are playing!)
5. Hola Arepa
If you've never tried an arepa (or arepita), you are seriously missing out. These fried masa cakes serve as an excellent foundation for just about anything you add on top of it. From chorizo gravy to chimichurri, Hola Arepa knows how to make great food. Everything is fresh and nobody is left out of this tasty experience - they also serve gluten free and vegan dishes that are no less delicious than their traditional preparations. DO NOT miss the mini churros with spicy chocolate dipping sauce for dessert!
The Hola Arepa Food Truck tours the downtown area of Minneapolis between April and October. They are open for lunch, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., but are a frequent presence at outdoor festivals, around the breweries, and even offer catering services if you are planning a special event!
Hola Arepa started as a food truck, but became so popular that the owners opened up a full-service restaurant location as well! The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic, so be sure to check out their permanent spot at 3501 Nicollet Ave., Minneapolis, MN as well!
6. Sushi Fix
Sushi Fix was the very first sushi food truck in the Twin Cities! It's almost hard to believe that these expertly crafted rolls are all made in a tiny little food truck. The Sushi Fix chefs take their fish seriously; they fly in fresh catches from Japan and Hawaii to make sure your meal is as awesome as possible... all at a very reasonable price!
You'll find the truck downtown during the lunch rush, so if you are looking for something unique to try, keep an eye out for Sushi Fix.

Hot-diggity-dog! This good ol' American favorite really lifts the hot dog to a new level. While the wieners are just plain excellent, the tasty toppings really do the trick... especially their out-of-this-world homemade bock mustard and the spicy relish. Don't be put off by their no-ketchup rule; there's no need to slather these dogs with old-school condiments. If you think hot dogs only belong in ballparks and sausage should be saved for Oktoberfest, you are wrong. Natedogs brings serves up their humble buns in style.

Yup, there's real wood-fired pizza served hot and fresh from a food truck. How is that possible? Ask Tru Pizza. The make some of the best traditional hand-shaped pies in town out of super fresh, locally-sourced ingredients that are absolutely out-of-this-world. Their crusts are springy, perfectly charred, and arguably some of the best in the entire Twin Cities. Perfection takes a little extra time - be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes for your pizza - but it's worth it when you know you simply won't find a fresher slice.
Tru Pizza Truck makes the rounds through the Minneapolis breweries on Fridays. They are frequently found at Fulton Brewery and Bauhaus Brew Labs, but you can keep up-to-date on their whereabouts on the calendar found on their website.
