Minnesotans just love the great outdoors, so you can find tons of fun things to do in Minnesota in the winter. In addition to all of those awesome light displays above, there are lots of winter festivals like polar plunges (brrrr!), sled-riding, and ice fishing, just to name a few.

Where is a good place for a winter weekend getaway in Minnesota?

If you’re looking for a romantic weekend winter getaway, or at least something warm and cozy, you’ll find lots of amazing lodges dotted throughout the state. One of the most popular is the Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters in Grand Marais. The woods on the property are probably the most enchanting parts of the outdoors, and the inside of the lodge is beautiful.

Where can I go winter hiking in Minnesota?

Minnesota has some great hiking spots all year round and if you don’t mind the cold and like winter hiking, you’ll find plenty of great spots. Among them are the Upper Falls Trail in Gooseberry Falls State Park, the Hegman Lake Trail in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and the Thompson Trail in Jay Cooke State Park, just to name a few.
