However, as many Minnesotans know, waterfalls are something the state deserves to be known for. Not only do we have a multitude of phenomenal falls throughout the state, but we even have an underground waterfall, in addition to a disappearing waterfall. Despite what out-of-state folks are saying, Minnesota is the place for waterfalls and it’s about time for people to start realizing it. To help get you started, listed below are 10 epic waterfalls near me that are certainly worth a visit.
These stunning falls are the tallest in the state and can be found on the northern border. They are truly awe-inspiring and definitely not something people would expect from Minnesota.
By far, Minnesota's most beautiful and iconic falls, these three tiers of wonderful cascades look like something from one of the larger mountain ranges instead of on our own North Shore.
This mysterious waterfall is not known to many, but half of Devil's Kettle drops into the earth to never be seen again. It's such a fascinating natural phenomenon and it's right here in northern Minnesota.
These cascades are truly one of a kind and can also be found on Minnesota's North Shore. The many layers along the river's path to Lake Superior are positively mesmerizing.
Down a quick path, Hidden Falls are long, beautiful, and surrounded by the perfect clearing for enjoying their beauty. You can even walk across the top of the falls and stroll up the river for the perfect, calming experience.
This waterfall is 39-feet tall and positively stunning! Not many people would think to find it in Southern Minnesota.

What are three of the best waterfall hikes in Minnesota that belong on everyone’s outdoor bucket list?
If you’re a fan of waterfalls, you’re in luck because there are many hiking trails with waterfalls in Minnesota. Listed below are three of our favorites.
Devil’s Kettle is located inside Judge C.R. Magney State Park. It’s a 2-mile out-and-back trail with a moderate level of difficulty. It’s open all year long and is a popular spot for hiking, camping, and birding.
Located inside Grand Portage State Park is Minnesota’s High Falls Trail. This 1.2-mile out-and-back trail has an easy level of difficulty and is a great trail for hiking and walking. The best time of year to explore this scenic trail is May to October.
3. Fifth Falls and Superior Hiking Trail Loop
Minnesota’s Fifth Falls and Superior Hiking Trail Loop is tucked away inside Gooseberry Falls State Park. Like the High Falls Trail, this hike also has an easy level of difficulty. It’s a 3-mile loop trail that’s popular for hiking, birding, and road biking. March through October is the best time of year to explore the Fifth Falls and Superior Hiking Trail Loop.
