If you live in the Mitten State you’re likely to have some favorite vacation spots. During the summer months, you don’t have to travel far for an amazing trip, as Michigan is home to amazing lake, beaches, and other can’t-be-beat outdoor spots. Wintertime, we’re bound to take a flight to a number of snowbird destinations elsewhere. And anytime of year is a great time to visit some of the road trip-worthy cities that are only a few hours away from us. Here are some places we’re sure you’ve thought about visiting lately.
11) Ohio
Ohio might be an underrated destination, but don’t let that deter you from checking it out. Its close proximity to Michigan gives you ample opportunity to take an extended road trip and explore the state’s hidden gems.
This is one of Michigan's most popular resort places. It gives you a chance to ditch the car, indulge in the famous fudge, and venture back to simpler times.
Let's face it, Michigan winters are brutal. So when you're in the midst of yet another Polar Vortex, you are no doubt daydreaming about balmier temps in sunny Florida. Pictured here, Naples.

Indiana has a bad rep as sort of the armpit of the Midwest. But there's no denying its beaches along Lake Michigan are something special, such as here at the Indiana Dunes State Park.
