If there’s one thing we Michiganders know it’s the fact that we can use our hand as a map to let folks know where we live. If you live in southeast Michigan like I do, you live below the crease for your thumb. If you live up near Lake Huron, you live in the actual thumb. And if you live in the UP, your map is still a hand, only you hold it sideways. This leaves me with a question though. If Michigan is the shape of a mitten, how the heck are we supposed to describe other states? This handy map (see what I did there?) of the U.S. should serve as a helpful guide to all those other states.

So, does this get it right? Let’s see, according to this map, I’ve lived in Detroit, Chicago, The Other Disney and Portland or something.
