What are the most amazing Michigan byways?
Michigan is truly a road-tripper’s dream come true. With more than 120 National Scenic Byways, there are thousands of combined miles weaving all over the state just waiting for you to explore them. Obviously, we can’t list all 120 of those byways here, but some of our favorites include River Road Scenic Byway, which takes you alongside the stunning Au Sable River and then west through the Huron National Forest. There’s the White Fish Bay National Forest Scenic Byway, an amazing drive in the Upper Peninsula that will truly take your breath away with its obscene amounts of scenic beauty and absolute perfection. Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is another that comes to mind almost immediately, and for good reason: the views of Lake Michigan on this particular drive are so seemingly endless that you might forget you’re land-locked for a little while. That one feels like a drive through Seattle!
What are some of the most beautiful drives in Michigan?
As we mentioned above, Michigan is a special haven for those who love scenic drives, and there’s no shortage of awesome drives all over the state that aren’t even designated byways! For example, there’s a magical tunnel of trees on M-119 between Harbor Springs and Cross Village that truly feels like something out of a fairy tale. Drive through during the summer when the trees are lush and vibrant green for an experience you probably won’t ever forget. There’s also the world-famous M-22 Circle Tour, a 115-mile excursion along the pristine shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. US-23 along the Sunrise Coast is a must-do, too. We recommend taking that drive timed for a perfect sunset view along the way – you can’t miss it! For more of our favorite beautiful drives in Michigan, take a look at this article.
