Most of us know that it’s our French or Native American roots that influence the names of many of the places in Michigan. That’s lost on most outsiders, so it makes their trying to pronounce them all the more hilarious. Ever hear someone say Mackinac, or Hamtramck? Then you know what we’re talking about.
