The Northern Lights May Be Visible Over Michigan This Week Due To A Solar Storm

In a wonderful turn of events, a solar storm this week is making it possible for all of Michigan to get a peek at the Northern Lights tonight and possibly even Friday night, too. The year 2020 has doled out some difficult times, but the year will be ending on a high note this week when the Northern Lights make a surprise appearance above Michigan.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

To see the Northern Lights, your best bet is to find a spot that’s as dark and free of light pollution as possible. Then turn your gaze toward the north just above the horizon.

Have you seen the Northern Lights in Michigan before? We bet you have! Share your photos from this week (or an earlier sighting) in our comments! Or, head over to our Michigan Nature Lovers Group on Facebook and share them there!
