A bog is defined as a section of muddy ground that cannot support a heavy body and becomes acidic due to a lack of water streams moving in or out. Plants grow atop the water in response to acid levels.
Mud Lake Bog Nature Preserve features ample boardwalk trails so you can safely and securely admire the many delights of the area. There’s even an observation tower.
Throughout the years, this one-of-a-kind locale has proven itself resilient, surviving everything from a flood to an underground fire. Today, a sense of hope abounds.
