With a population of fewer than 2,500 residents, Charlevoix, Michigan is a delightful spot smack dab on the shores of Lake Michigan, Lake Charlevoix, and Round Lake. What lends to the history of this beautiful place is the fact that the town was founded back in 1878, however, it was originally part of what was called the Michilimackinac, formed in the Treaty of Washington in 1836. It is also said that the French explorer Pierre François Xavier de Charlevoix is whom the town is named after.

The reason why Tecumseh, Michigan is one of the most historic spots in the state is that it’s one of the very first pioneer settlements in the Michigan Territory! Tecumseh was also the first settlement in Lenawee County back in May of 1824. Named after the Shawnee chief Tecumseh, this town is a coveted place that represents how far Michigan has grown over the years.

Originally settled back in 1845, Frankenmuth has since expanded, becoming one of the premier destinations in the state.
