The 1.5-Mile Lighted Winter Trail Might Just Be The Most Enchanting Hike In Michigan

If you can feel the chill in the air, you’ll know that fall and winter trail season will soon be upon us in Michigan. It’s like walking into a whole new world compared to the warmer months. This is most apparent at the Enchanted Trail hosted by The Highlands at Harbor Springs. This new attraction is their family-friendly way of making the forest shine.
You can find The Highlands at Harbor Springs in the Boyne Mountain area of Northwest Michigan. The Highlands feature 53 groomed ski runs in addition to their trails. However, if you show up for the Enchanted Trail, you’ll be walking the 1.5-mile lighted trail.
Nothing describes the experience better than this. I already find winter walks extremely calming, but when you add these beautiful displays, it becomes breathtaking.
This is a trip that you will want to book online in advance on their website with availability between December 9 and February 25.

Not only is this trail family-friendly, but it’s also pet-friendly. There’s a yurt at the halfway point of the trail where you can warm up with a drink, while your four-legged friend enjoys a complimentary dog treat.
Guests marvel at the light displays on this roughly 1.5-mile trail. For the most comfortable experience, it’s recommended to bring snowshoes or to rent some from The Highlands. You can find those at their Cross Country Center.
The trees really shine in their neon forest. This is one of the areas you’ll stroll through as you wind through the forest. You should plan on the walk taking roughly an hour to an hour-and-a-half.
One of the most unique parts of this attraction is these singing tree lights. This display reacts to your voice so you can create your own light show based on what you sing. It’s what they call the ultimate karaoke party at the Highlands.
Tickets start at $19 dollars for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. However, there’s much more to do at The Highlands than just the Enchanted Trail. You could spend a day skiing, snowshoeing, or cozying up in the lodge during your escape to Northwest Michigan.
