Croswell Swinging Bridge is located on Maple Street in the town of Croswell.
This one-of-a-kind pedestrian suspension bridge is said to be the longest of its kind in Michigan, and visitors of all ages enjoy strolling across it each year.
Croswell Swinging Bridge is anything but ordinary. Originally constructed in 1905 with just two support cables, this attraction has been spooking crossers for more than a century.
Of course, additional support has been added to the bridge since its construction, but you’ll still find yourself feeling a bit unsteady as you traverse the walkway.
The bridge itself spans approximately 140 feet across the Black River. As you walk, be sure to hold on tight — especially if there’s a bit of a breeze to contend with!
The quirkiness doesn’t stop there. At one end of the bridge, a sign reads "Be Good To Your Mother-In-Law." While the motive for this sign isn’t clear, its message is valid!
There’s even a small park, playground surrounding the bridge. What better place to relax by the water as you watch visitors make their way across the suspended path?
Sanilac County locals are so proud of the bridge that they even hold an annual festival to celebrate its existence. This year’s event will take place on August 3-4.
