These 12 Incredible Hiking Spots In Michigan Are Out Of This World
This time of year us Michiganders are slowly stepping out of our homes after a long winter to explore. Finding the right hiking trail is part of that ritual. We thought we would save you some of the hassle and have compiled a list of some of our favorites. So dust off those hiking boots and canteen. Stock up on sunscreen and bug repellent and get ready for some outdoor fun.

Situated in the Ottawa National Forest in the Upper Peninsula, this nearly 1 million-acre space great, not just for hiking but all manner of outdoor activities.

To access the lighthouse, pictured here, one must walk 1.8 miles from Ludington State Beach.

This slice of tranquility in the midst of the city connects walkers and cyclists from the Detroit RiverWalk to Eastern Market. A former Grand Trunk Western Railroad line, visitors of this below grade path will enjoy the juxtaposition of industrial ruin and the abundance of natural green space.

Just outside of Battle Creek, visitors of this park will enjoy strolling across historic bridges that have been restored and relocated to this peaceful setting.

This national park located on an island on Lake Superior is a backpacker's dream, where moose and wolves roam freely.

Another UP island adventure, this "crown jewel of Lake Superior" is just seven miles from Marquette.

Showing some Thumb love here, this pet-friendly state park on the shores of Lake Huron is ideal for hiking, cross-country skiing, fishing and swimming.

The Pyramid Point Trail is at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and consists of a 2.7 mile loop. But make sure to stop every now and then to soak in the views.

This 4-mile loop includes bridges so hikers can walk across the Pine River.

This is a popular destination in Shelby Township for Metro Detroit families. Includes several paths for hiking, a swimming lake and small, sandy beach.

This moderately challenging riverside trail outside of Grayling is dog-friendly and has on-site campgrounds.
