I specifically have a deep love for the Michigan Wolverines (my alma mater), and I get to write about them and several other Big Ten teams as and editor for Athlon Sports. I ordered the freshly caught walleye, fried with their remoulade sauce my first time, and then ordered blackened mahi-mahi my second time around. Both dishes couldn't be more different in style, but both came out amazing. That just goes to show the range of possibilities at this fish market.
The knowledgeable staff here knows how to get creative with all sorts of seafood. While out-of-towners should definitely try a local favorite like lake trout or walleye, regulars might opt for something you don't often find in the Midwest like their oysters or swordfish.

I never thought I'd be a fan of cold fish soup, but this dish completely changed my mind. This shrimp gazpacho is one of their most popular items, combining a rich tomato broth, delicious bites of shrimp, and seasonings to help you cool down and fill up. Be aware; this is only available in the summer months and goes fast on a daily basis.
Monahan’s is always switching up their daily specials, so even the regulars find a new favorite from time to time. While the market is open all day, their kitchen is only open during lunch. Don’t forget to check Monahan’s Seafood Inc. online to confirm their catch of the day and lunch hours.
