The Root Beer Stand has two locations in Kalamazoo, one on Westnedge Avenue and the other on Portage Road. Both locations are locally owned and operated and take root beer seriously.

You can walk to the counter and place your order or a server will come to your car window. There are menus conveniently posted in front of your parked vehicle and a tray will be placed right in your window.

Of course, root beer floats are offered as well as ham and cheese sandwiches, popcorn, and lemonade. You can take the famous root beer home by the quart, half gallon, or full gallon. You can also purchase a quintessential Root Beer Stand mug to take home as a souvenir.
Plan on visiting between February and October as the eatery runs seasonally. The stand is also cash only. Whether you ride your bike up to the counter, take the family van, or a vintage convertible, you’ll leave feeling full and satisfied.
