It’s the most wonderful time of the year here in Metro Detroit, and we couldn’t be more excited about the arrival of the holiday season. If you’re from Detroit, you’ve likely explored the city’s fantastic Winter Blast festival in years past. In early 2019, though, Winter Blast will debut a new and improved style – and you’ll surely want to experience it for yourself.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
For the last 14 years, Detroit residents have flocked to Winter Blast, which brings all sorts of unique and fun-filled winter weather activities to Campus Martius Park.
Traditionally, this exciting event has squeezed endless excitement into just three days. However, this time around, Winter Blast has extended its dates to include four whole weekends.
No matter when you stop by, you’re in for a treat. The upcoming event dates are as follows: January 19-21, January 25-27, February 8-10, and February 15-17.
As if that weren’t enough, event organizers have also waived the standard $3 entrance fee. That’s right; you’ll be able to appreciate all the joys of Winter Blast for free!
Explore an array of ice sculptures, keep it classic with some skating, or participate in the Polar Plunge, which doubles as a fundraiser for the Special Olympics.
Visitors of all ages will enjoy a few runs down the massive Winter Slides, while other attendees will appreciate the soon-to-be-announced live musical acts.
Whether you’re a new attendee or a longtime fan of this festive event, one thing is for sure: the 2019 Winter Blast promises to delight Detroiters and tourists alike in brand new ways.
