But there’s something to be said for the calm quietude of a small town. There’s one such tiny town in the Detroit area that might just be the perfect place for a quick escape from city life.
The village of Milford is located approximately 45 minutes northwest of Detroit.
When you arrive in Milford, take an hour or two to peruse its charming downtown. From coffee shops to quaint boutiques, there’s something here for everyone.
If you’re an art enthusiast, downtown Milford will delight you. Stop in at The Aubergine Gallery or Hoot Gift Gallery & Art Market to peruse some creative items.
Of course, Milford has no shortage of outdoor space to enjoy. With six parks nestled inside its city limits, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to take in some fresh air.
Stroll along the Huron River or enjoy a quiet picnic lunch at Central Park, which is slightly smaller than its New York City counterpart, but no less lovely.
When hunger strikes, head to Main Street Grill & Tavern for a bite to eat. Chow down on a perfectly prepared burger and wash it down with a pint of your favorite beer.
Throughout the year, there are plenty of special events that bring the people of Milford together. On Thursdays from May through October, visit the Farmers Market and pick up all sorts of delicious fresh produce.
During warmer months, enjoy live music in Milford’s parks or do a little extra shopping during Sidewalk Sales weekend. There’s no shortage of fun to be had.
