Some Of The Best Drivers In The Nation Are Found In Detroit According To A Recent Study
You surely know that Detroit is known as the Motor City, but did you know that it’s widely considered one of the best driving cities in America? That’s right: Detroit’s drivers have been commended in the past for their top-notch driving, and the past year was no exception. According to a study by QuoteWizard that ranks the nation’s best and worst drivers by city for 2019, Detroit deserves top honors.
QuoteWizard analyzes data from across the United States to compile its yearly list of the best and worst drivers nationwide. This year, it considered 75 American cities. In creating its rankings, the organization considered four factors: speeding tickets, DUIs, car accidents, and general citations, including running red lights or violating minor traffic laws.
When all was compiled and analyzed, the Motor City came out on top. That’s right: among the dozens of metropolitan areas considered, Detroit’s averages in the four aforementioned categories were better than the rest. In fact, drivers from Detroit were ranked at the top of every category except for DUIs. QuoteWizard did note that Detroit’s rate of uninsured drivers remains higher than in many parts of the country - this could serve as a confounding variable in the study, which primarily analyzed insured drivers.
After Detroit, the four cities rounding out the list of America’s top five best driving cities were Louisville, Chicago, Miami, and Grand Rapids - another spot right here in the Great Lakes State. On the flip side of the coin, QuoteWizard’s study found that the country’s worst drivers reside in Portland, Boise, Virginia Beach, Columbus, and Sacramento. The frustrations of your daily commute might make it difficult to believe at times, but Detroiters deserve praise for their driving abilities.
Have you driven through any of the other cities included in QuoteWizard’s study? Was there anything notable about the drivers you encountered? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below!
