The Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory was designed by famous architect Albert Kahn and is the oldest continually running conservatory in the United States. Stepping into the conservatory will make you feel like you're in another world.

The Show House has changing displays of flowering plants.

The Fernery is sunken to provide cooler conditions and more humidity.

The Palm House includes tropical trees and palms.

The Cactus House includes succulents and cactus.

The Tropical House is home to many plants that provide food like bananas, oranges, and figs.

The Conservatory was dedicated to Anna Scripps Whitcomb on April 6, 1955, when Whitcomb donated her 600 plant orchid collection to the city of Detroit. Since then, Detroit has been home to the largest municipally owned orchid collection in the country. Many of these exotic flowers were saved from Britain during World War II.

The Conservatory is located at 900 Inselruhe Ave Detroit, MI 48207. You can visit the the space Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
