Nature Preserves In Michigan

What are the best nature preserves near me in Michigan?
Going on a quiet nature walk in Michigan is one of our favorite ways to spend a warm afternoon. Here are a few of the best nature preserves near you in Michigan:

  • Bow in the Clouds Preserve, Kalamazoo, MI: On a warm spring day in Michigan when birds are playfully chirping in the trees and a gentle breeze dances through the tall grasses in the Bow in the Clouds Preserve, it's a good day for a nature walk. This hidden gem in Kalamazoo may be a smaller nature preserve at around 60 acres with a short one-mile loop, but it is still a wonderful place to get outside and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of spring.
  • Sand Point Nature Preserve, Pigeon, MI: Head to Michigan's thumb on beautiful Lake Huron for a day in nature at Sand Point. Spend some time on the five miles of groomed trails or wander the sandy shoreline of Saginaw Bay. Keep an eye out for bald eagles, sandhill cranes, and great blue herons, among other bird and wildlife species. Sand Point Nature Preserve's 220 acres give you plenty of room to explore and discover new things every time you visit.
  • Seven Bridges Natural Area, Kalkaska County, MI: With over 300 acres and three miles of hiking trails, this cool nature preserve offers outdoor enthusiasts a place to play. You'll be surrounded by stately cedar trees and the sound of the Rapid River winding through the trees. As the name suggests there are several wooden bridges (only four not seven as you might imagine) to hike across sections of the river.

All of these nature preserves in MI have at least a few hiking trails to explore. Grab a map from AllTrails+ before you go so you can always find your way back home.
