The Great Lake State has some amazing places to grab a pint from local dive bars to luxury cocktail lounges. But what really takes a watering hole to the next level is delicious bar food. If you’re looking for a historic bar in the Mitten State that has mouthwatering big burgers, check out this joint in Big Rapids, Michigan.
Schuberg's Bar & Grill is located in Big Rapids, a little less than an hour's drive north of Grand Rapids.
Opened in 1933, the bar has seen many first dates and hangouts with friends. Schuberg’s has been slinging beers and burgers for 90 years and is still going strong.
In 1963, Carl Schuberg passed the bar down to his son Shi Schuberg. Since then Schuberg’s has been passed down from generation to generation between bartenders and family members.
We can see why because the burgers offered here are absolutely delicious. The big “Schu” burger is massive at a whopping 12 ounces and comes with the works. Yum!
You can get just about any toppings with your burger including beer-battered onion strips, sauteed mushrooms, a fried egg, jalapenos, and more. Besides the famous burgers, you can also order salad, soup, and sandwiches.
