The Most Whimsical Restaurant In Massachusetts Belongs On Your Bucket List
We here in Massachusetts aren’t short on amazing and unique restaurants to sample. From seafood shacks to steakhouses, there’s something for everyone. However, there’s one restaurant that has a totally unique and whimsical atmosphere unlike any other.
During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
Common Ground Cafe is tucked right into the charming stretch of shops and cafes that makes up downtown Hyannis.
The first thing you’ll notice about this place is that it looks a bit out of place amongst the modern businesses on either side. The storefront looks like it's carved from a living tree.
Once you step inside, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to an enchanted treehouse or lavish forest retreat.
It’s hard to describe just how cozy and inviting the atmosphere is. Everything from the tables to the railings is hand-carved and beautifully decorated.
Each table is a unique and tucked-away dining space. You can climb into a booth that feels a bit like a nest carved into the side of a tree, or drop into a sunken table area surrounded by delicate curtains and burnished wood.
The staff will make you feel right at home, and is truly passionate about their food.
If you feel like bellying up to the "bar" here, the staff can help you select a delicious tea to complement your meal, or just warm you up.
The food here is just as cozy and warm as the interior.
Common Ground specializes in naturally delicious fare like freshly baked bread, delectable vegetable wraps and an incredible array of sandwiches.
Try the Pauper Special (thinly sliced smoked turkey
with their own BBQ sauce with onions served hot on
a steaming buttered roll) their decadent grilled cheese, or even a simple peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich.
And you should definitely save room for dessert.
The hot fudge brownie cake is served with freshly whipped cream, ice cream and fudge sauce. It's beyond mouthwatering.
Head upstairs to grab a tasty, fresh juice at the juice bar.
Before you leave, be sure to check out the selection of organic and handmade products and gifts in the back of the restaurant.
Common Ground Cafe is located at 420 Main Street, Hyannis. If you’re looking for more unusual dining spots in Massachusetts, stop by what might be
the quirkiest restaurant in the state.
