Chatham, Massachusetts Is One Of America’s Most Walkable Small Towns, And There Are Delights Around Every Corner
There’s something so wonderful about walking around a charming small town, especially if there’s a downtown area to explore. And there’s probably no better town in the Bay State than Chatham to explore on foot. Chatham is not only one of the most walkable towns in Massachusetts but also America. Let’s take a look at what this town has in store.
There's something quite alluring about a New England town like Chatham. Set along the water at the elbow of Cape Cod, Chatham's downtown area with its upscale shops and restaurants can be explored on foot.
The town's Main Street is lined with lovely shops to browse through. Whether it's to find the perfect souvenir, some artwork, clothing to add to your wardrobe, and the like, it will be hard to leave the town empty-handed.
Perhaps the most whimsical store found on Chatham's Main Street is Ducks In The Window, the largest rubber duck store in the world. You can't help but smile as you browse through this shop and see hundreds of styles of ducks lining the shelves and window.
If you're hungry, just off of Main Street you'll find one of the best restaurants in town. The Impudent Oyster is an upscale eatery that's been serving fresh seafood and American fare for over 40 years.
If you enjoy oysters, The Impudent Oyster is the place to dine. However, the lobster roll, kobe beef burger, fish tacos, and fisherman's stew are quite divine as well.
Visit the website for location, hours, and to view the lunch and dinner menus.
A visit to Chatham would not be complete without ice cream. Stop by one of several shops, like Sweet Dreams, for a cup, a cone, or an ice cream sandwich.
Chatham is one of the best places in the Bay State to explore by foot, no matter what time of year. But it truly comes alive in the summer when the tourist season starts.
