The Underrated Massachusetts Lake That’s Perfect For A Summer Day

The scenery at Lake Dennison is absolutely gorgeous. It's what perfect summer afternoons are made of.
Between the bright blue of the lake and the lush greenery that encircles it, every corner of this spot is lovely. Lake Dennison is also very centrally located (it’s only an hour from Boston) which makes getting to this spot a total breeze.
The water is cool and clean, which makes swimming here a delight.
You can swim in the lake between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Lifeguards are on duty and very vigilant, so you can feel secure about bringing your kids or grandkids. There’s also a private, campers-only beach that overnight guests can take advantage of.
There are plenty of fish at this lake, and anglers will delight in hauling in dinner right from the shore.
This is also a great spot for biking, walking and kayaking. If you’re a dedicated explorer, you might even stumble across an old cemetery in the woods dating back to the Revolutionary War.
And of course, there's nothing like enjoying a sunset on the water.
Even at the height of the season (July and August), there’s plenty of room to spread out on this lake and get lost in nature. The lake is blissfully quiet in the evening, and by the sunset hours all you can hear is a chorus of crickets.
If you can't bear to leave, camping along the lakeshore is an awesome experience.
The camping staff at this lake are truly helpful and will get you checked in quickly and painlessly. There are bathrooms, grilling sites and picnic tables to keep you feeling comfortable while enjoying the beauty of the lake. There are over 150 campsites, so you won't be fighting for elbow-room here.
