Who would have thought you can find world-famous pie in a small Cape Cod village? Well, you can! Located in Centerville, one of seven villages in Barnstable, Centerville Pie Co. offers some of the best pie in the state. This is the sweetest day trip destination in Massachusetts you need to visit.
It all started in 2009 when a former deputy sheriff and a former banker, Laurie and Kristin, opened up their very own pie shop, the Centerville Pie Co. Offering both sweet and savory pies, their customer base grew.
In August 2009, Oprah Winfrey, along with her bestie Gayle King, were in town. Owner Kristin decided to box up one of their from-scratch chicken pies and drive it to their hotel. Oprah tried the pie, fell in love with it, and even spoke about how delicious it was. Needless to say, from that point forward, business at Centerville Pie Co. grew.
At the shop, the pie menu features fresh cream pies, fresh fruit pies, custard pies, and additional pies like pecan, chocolate chip, and lemon meringue.
Strawberry rhubarb pie is a springtime classic and is only offered seasonally along with pumpkin pie, peach strawberry pie, and peach pie. You can purchase a pie fresh or frozen to bake at home at a later time. (Baking instructions are available on the website).
The shop also offers special pies that are available for a limited time only, like this banana chocolate cream pie. If a slice of this pie sounds like a slice of heaven, then you must try it the next time it's available.
Set in an Oreo crust is a layer of bananas followed by chocolate and banana pudding, then another layer of bananas, and topped with banana whipped cream and chocolate ganache. Yum!
If you prefer a more savory pie, Centerville Pie Company offers plenty of options. Pictured here is the clam pie which is perfect for seafood lovers.
Comfort food comes in all shapes and sizes including pie. Here you have the Homestyle Shepherd's Pie which you can grab either fresh or frozen from the bakery.
Also at the bakery, you'll find cases filled with frozen pies to go. You can also order online if you do not live on Cape Cod. Pies can be shipped nationwide.
