Where do you go to see migratory songbirds in Massachusetts? While the state is home to numerous bird sanctuaries, there is one magical spot for birdwatching on Cape Cod. Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a wide range of habitats, perfect for spotting a variety of bird species.
Located in the Outer Cape Cod town of Wellfleet, the 937-acre Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the best places to spot migratory birds in the state.
Among the variety of habitats at this Mass Audubon sanctuary are a pond, wetlands, a barrier beach, and pine woodlands. It's an absolutely breathtaking place to explore and go birding.
In the spring, migratory songbirds make their way. back to the area. It's the best time to come birding here. You can catch glimpses of pine warblers, indigo buntings, finches, and many more.
Nearly 300 species of birds can be found at Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary throughout the year. Between all the waterfowl and songbirds, it's a wonderful place to be.
The diversity of bird species is absolutely incredible here. You may choose to go birding or join one of the birding programs offered at the sanctuary.
