Sure you can go to Boston or the Berkshires, but if you prefer a town that’s filled with charm, shopping, fantastic restaurants, history, beaches, and a welcoming vibe to boot, Provincetown is the place to go. Considered the friendliest town in Massachusetts, Provincetown is perfect for those who need a pick-me-up.
Named one of the friendliest towns in America by Expedia, Provincetown is such an open-minded and friendly place where everyone is meant to feel welcome.
Regardless of the time of year you visit, you'll encounter historical sites, galleries, museums, plenty of dining options, and cafes on and around Commercial Street.
You'll also find pristine beaches and plenty of outdoor recreation. Perhaps you'll hike in the Province Lands, swim or sunbathe at one of the beaches, bike along the Province Lands Bike Trail, charter a boat, or even go for a whale watch. There are so many ways to get some R&R, fresh air, and exercise in P-town.
Provincetown is also home to the oldest continuous art colony in the country. For well over a century, artists, writers, and other creative types have flocked to P-town, finding a welcoming community that fosters creativity.
Provincetown was where the Pilgrims first made landfall in the New World and to commemorate this feat, the
Pilgrim Monument was built between 1907 and 1910. Of course, a visit to the Pilgrim Monument is a must when you come to P-town. Not only is it an important piece of history, but you'll get the most spectacular panoramic views from the top.
